Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing meals, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and quality.
- Oversee kitchen staff to ensure proper food safety and sanitation practices are followed.
- Assist in menu planning and recipe creation, keeping resident preferences and dietary needs in mind.
- Monitor inventory, food costs, and waste to maximize efficiency.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food preparation and service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in food preparation and service.
- Communicate effectively with dining staff, residents, and management to provide an excellent dining experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Culinary Arts degree or certification or a minimum of five years culinary experience at the Sous Chef level or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a culinary leadership role, ideally in a healthcare, senior living, or hospitality environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation guidelines, and dietary restrictions.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage and train kitchen staff effectively.
- Ability to follow recipes and create delicious meals while managing time efficiently.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
- Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
- Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is required based on State / County law.
- Residency within the service area is required.
