Overview

The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs to buildings, facilities, and equipment.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair and maintain buildings.
  • Perform general maintenance using basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, appliance repair, and electrical wiring.
  • Complete set-ups and tear down for scheduled campus events.
  • Operate and maintain tools used in the maintenance and repair of building facilities.
  • Perform on call duties as needed/assigned.
  • Remove snow with shovels, blowers, and plows when necessary.
  • Provide logistical support for campus activities and maintain a campus environment that is safe, clean, and conducive to learning.
  • Assist fire drill, lockdown, and other safety exercises.
  • Assist in managing traffic flow and parking throughout campus. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • 3 years of experience in general maintenance
  • 3 years of experience in one or more building tradesExperience in CMMS software program(s) 
  • Must submit to a Motor Vehicle Check and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Possess a high level of discretion and the ability to problem solve and think quickly on your feet.
  • Enjoy working independently and within a team structure.
  • Flexible, dependable and takes ownership of work.
  • Possess time management, communication, and organizational skills.

Must be flexible, friendly, and able to handle difficult situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to walk for long periods of time around campus 
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Work from ladders
  • Climb stairs
  • Stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Work in an outdoor environment, with exposure to inclement weather and varying temperatures
  • Sit at a desk working on a computer
